Selecting Options
The option process or “color process,” is the customer’s process of selecting options for their home. This typically occurs within 30 days after the customer executes the purchase agreement*. The process consists of several appointments that are determined by the community and floor plan selected. At minimum, the customer will have an Orientation and a Full Color appointment.
Orientation Appointment:
- The customer will be introduced to the option program and their Color Coordinator.
- The Color Coordinator will provide an overview of the option catalog and what to expect.
- This appointment is where the buyer will start the process of identifying their interest.
Full Color Appointment
- The customer will start the process selecting the options they would like in their home.
- The coordinator will provide a total option cost and purchase price for the home.
- At the end of the appointment, the customer will provide any option deposit due. In some cases, there may be more than one color appointment required.
Other appointments may consist of clarification appointments, virtual orientations, pool designs, and low voltage appointments.

*Meaning, the customer does not select options until after they are under contract. That is why it is so important that you understand the option program, to field questions that the buyer may have prior to signing the purchase agreement.
